Man pleads guilty to hiding AIDS diagnosis from multiple women

Police say Tyrone Pugh has AIDS but didn't tell the women he slept with.

Pugh has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, but it is not known how many other women he has slept with. He is expected in Wayne County Circuit Court Tuesday for his arraignment.

His wife, Tamisha Henderson, was infected by Pugh, who had contracted AIDS before they were married and never told her.

"Me and him went to high school together," Henderson says. "I thought I knew him. And for all of this to happen, I can't deal with it."

It all started back in 2000 when Henderson learned she was pregnant. With the good news came a devastating diagnosis: she was also HIV positive.

"When I first found out I was positive I contacted the authorities," Henderson says. "I didn't follow up because I felt sorry for him and I was believing him."

Henderson says she also felt no one else would have her, so she decided to settle. Then, last year, she decided she had finally had enough and left Pugh.

But Henderson soon learned her husband had been living a double life.

"They don't know," she says. "He's meeting them on the chat lines."

The last woman whom he had been with also learned she had been infected, and she contacted every woman in his phone, including Henderson.

Apparently, Tyrone Pugh had been meeting women online and in chat rooms, then having sex with them without telling the women he had AIDS.

"I just feel hopeless," Henderson says. "I think if he's off the street, I might be more at peace and I can start living my life. But knowing he's out here doing this ..."

FOX 2 did this interview with Henderson back in January, when she along with the other victims joined forces and filed police reports in Redford and Washtenaw County.

Since then, Pugh, 39, was arrested and charged with five separate counts of AIDS Sexual Penetration with an Uninformed Partner, a four-year felony.

He has already pleaded guilty two cases in Washtenaw County and his attorney tells FOX 2 that he is expected to do the same in Wayne County.

Henderson has been struggling with the HIV virus for the last 16 years. His prosecution is justice she says she needs.

"Not just for me, but just for the other women I know there is other women out here, other women he has slept with," Henderson says. "And they don't even know."

Pugh has also had children with a couple of the women and it is not known how many have been infected by him.

His attorney says Pugh is considering a plea deal and likely plead guilty to three additional counts.
