Taylor, a student of Laurus Academy is Southfield was hit and killed Saturday near the intersection of Puritan and Fairfield on Detroit's west side.
Witnesses say Taylor was running after her grandfather who had already crossed the street when she was fatally struck by a 2006
When the incident occurred, Fantasha had just gone to work. Her husband, De'sia's father had dropped her off at her grandparents who babysit her all the time. But on Saturday around five o'clock her grandfather was walking to the store when he crossed Puritan not knowing De'sia was trying to follow him. "He didn't know she was behind him, he didn't know, it's not his fault, he didn't know."
Police say at this time, charges are not expected but the incident is still under investigation.
But that does not make it any easier for the family of De'sia. "I won't hear her again, she won't be calling me no more, she won't be calling no more," said her mother Fantasha Taylor.
