Investigators say the remains were "significantly decomposed" found in a field off of Briar Hill Road south of Newburgh. Investigators estimate the body has been decomposing for several months.
A DNA analysis of the woman is expected to take between 24 and 48 hours. Police are not saying what evidence was collected from the area.
The location is about 12 miles away from where 22-year-old Chelsea Bruck was last seen at an outdoor party in Newport on Oct. 26.
Monroe County Sheriff investigators had dialogue with the Bruck family after finding the woman's body, but family members did not come out to the scene.
Numerous officers were combing the area and could be seen collecting articles and putting them in bags in images from SkyFOX today.
Monroe County Chief Deputy Heath Velliquette said the land owner is not connected in any way to the discovery of the remains other than being the property owner.
The body will be transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiners office. That's routine because Monroe County autopsies are performed at the Wayne County facility.
The next objectives, are to determine cause, manner and estimated time of death as well as a positive ID. A team of anthropologists is being called in to examine the remains.
