3 rescued from fire in abandoned building on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WJBK) -- Three people were rescued from a fast moving fire in an abandoned apartment building on Detroit's west side Sunday morning.

Crews were called to the building at around 6 a.m. Sunday.  It's located on Lincoln Street, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, next to I am My Brother's Keeper Ministries.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but presumed to be started by homeless people trying to keep warm.  The three people who were inside the building at the time of the fire ran away after being rescued.

The remaining structure of the apartment building will be torn down in the coming days.
