Sheriff: Body discovered in Ypsilanti Twp. lake believed to be missing woman

A body found in Ford Lake by police is believed to be missing woman Tonya Jackson, missing for a year.
Divers have discovered a body in the waters of Ford Lake in  Ypsilanti Township, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.

The department has been searching the lake for a few days now in connection with the disappearance of Tonya Jackson.

She went missing May 3, 2014. Earlier this week, Jackson's wallet and ID were found at the edge of the lake, which is not far from where the couple lived with their four children.

Derrick Jackson, the Director of Community Engagement with the department, says the medical examiner will confirm the identity of the individual, but that authorities do believe at this time the body is that of Jackson.

Last May, Jackson told her husband she was going to meet some friends. He later learned she was heading out to meet her boyfriend, a co-worker, at the Knights Inn in Romulus.

Police say Jackson's husband and boyfriend have been cooperative, and have been ruled out as suspects.
