The owner of The 3 Dogs and 1 Cat pet supply on Riopelle in the Eastern Market district says the broken sewer behind his store caused flooding for the past two weeks.
"It's so disheartening," says Ron Olszewski. "We've drained it, pumped out water. Cleaned it, because it is sewer water. It does create an odor for the tenants."
Olszewski, who retired after a career working as a Wayne County Sheriff Deputy, says a broken sewer line is causing sewage to backup into his business basement.
"When you call the city, they're quick to send you the bill if you don't pay your water bill," he said. "And they're shutting everybody off. You see something like this, that main broke two months ago.
"It collapsed, we put barricades all around it and try to tell people to be careful. We notified the city and nothing for two months was done."
Fox 2 contacted the city for response and were told they would review all aspects of the complaint.
Olszewski says he's up to date on his water bill, the electric bill and his taxes. But when he calls to report the stinky flooded backed up basement?
"This morning the truck was out for three hours and ate breakfast and did absolutely nothing," he said. "When we talked to him, he said he was waiting for his work crew who never showed up."
FOX 2 contacted the city but did not reach anyone when trying at about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Olszewski said the flooded basement issue has been going on for two weeks and he's looking for results.
