A look inside of the 'ice house' in Detroit

A home in Detroit has turned into a gigantic icicle formation and Saturday, Fox 2 went inside.

A home on Boston Street on the city's west side is currently a big ball of ice. But why?

According to neighbors, when the weather turned cold in November whoever was staying here left and never told the water company.

So the water continued to run, and run.

However, that's just the tip of the iceberg. This mess is more than an eye-sore. The massive sheet of ice continues down the driveway and into the street, making for a treacherous crossing.

The water has even frozen nearby neighbors' cars in the street.

Once the Neighborhood Association alerted the right people, they got the crews out here from the water department clearing up the ice. They were told that this will all be cleared up by the morning.

But there is fear the damage is beyond repair. The hope is the sight of this 'ice house' will inspire others to look after their own property before it too is claimed by the elements.
