Animal remains found in Rouge Park in Detroit

Investigators have more questions than answers Sunday after they came across what they're describing as human remains that were found in Rouge Park near Joy and Telegraph roads. It is unknown at this time how the remains were found or who alerted police.

Investigators did not have much information but have confirmed to Fox 2 that the remains are human and that they appear to have been in the park for quite some time. Detectives and forensic experts were seen entering the wooded crime-scene with shovels and rakes.

Detroit police was on-scene late into Sunday evening investigating.

Investigators say they will be back at the park Monday to investigate further.

UPDATE: A medical examiner has since determined the remains belonged to an animal.
