The guys from LawnGuru joined FOX 2's Derek Kevra Friday to talk about the tech of their phone app. The LawnGuru app allows users to have their lawn cut with just a tap on your iPhone.
"The way it works, you're going to download the app, you're going to enter in your home address, from there we're going to bring up a satellite image of your home, from there you're going to use our pin system to actually trace out your lawn," says Skye Durrant, co-founder and president of LawnGuru. "As you're tracing out your lawn, its calculating the square footage and that's how the pricing works."
Durrant says after you trace out your lawn, the app will take you back to the home screen where you can view live providers in your area to choose from.
After the lawn is cut, a picture of your yard is uploaded to your LawnGuru account along with a receipt. Once complete, you go back to the app to rate your services and leave a comment.
The average price to have your lawn cut using LawnGuru is approximately $30.
Brandon Bertrang, co-founder and CEO of LawnGuru says their lawn providers are existing companies that are already doing their routes and servicing their customers. He said lawn providers have to go through a vetting process and background before using LawnGuru.
LawnGuru is currently free to download on the iPhone app store. Right now, enter in the promo code 'FOX2' for $5 credit on the app.
