Authorities: Woman dies after being run over by husband

WEESAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 68-year-old woman died when her husband ran her over after their pickup truck lost part of its load of straw in southwestern Michigan.

The Berrien County sheriff's department says Sandra Christopher of Sawyer died at the scene July 9 in Berrien County's Weesaw Township.

Her 72-year-old husband was driving when the truck lost part of its load. The department says she got out of the passenger seat to collect straw and he backed into her. Lt. Steve Campbell says straw was stacked high enough to cover the truck's back window.

In a statement issued Monday, the department says the death is under investigation. The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph reports that information about the death wasn't immediately released by authorities earlier this month due to a computer glitch.

Weesaw Township is about 100 miles southwest of Grand Rapids, Mich., near the Indiana border.
