"I had to sit and baby sit the hole because kids were running back and forth," said Pamela Woods.
Detroit resident Pamela Woods says the city's water department dug up her yard when they turned on the water at her house on Stoppel at the beginning of the year.
"They had to come out and dig a big hole and when they dug the hole the water started coming up, so it was this huge hole," said Woods.
For months, Woods says she called the water department to come back out and fix the problem but got no response, so she called the Fox 2 Problem Solvers.
"Obviously something has fallen through the cracks; however, once I did get the call we got a crew out here today," said Curtrise Garner from the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. "We actually did cover up the hole and we're actually going to back fill it and take the water out of it."
Officials maintain the water department is very responsive and if you have an issue there are a number of ways to contact them.
"We have a new app, it's called improve Detroit. You can go onto the website www.dwsd.org, download it and try to let us know about different repairs around city," said Garner.
Woods says she's happy the work is getting done but wishes it had not taken so long.
Woods said, "Don't mess with fox 2 because when I called you guys, I've been trying to get this done since January."
