Chrysler: Detroit plant employee killed in 'tragic accident'

An employee at a Chrysler plant in Detroit was killed Tuesday morning in what the company is calling a 'tragic accident'. 

Chrysler says in a statement the person was killed at the waste water treatment plant at the Jefferson North Assembly plant during the first shift. 

Details surrounding the worker's death were not given, and a name was not released. 

Chrysler released this statement, which you can read in full below: 

FCA US has had a tragic accident at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant during the first shift this morning. A plant employee was killed at the waste water treatment plant. The Company is currently working with local officials to investigate the incident. The name of the employee is not being released at this time. All of the FCA family extends its deepest sympathies to the employee's family during this difficult time.

The plant is on Conner Street, just north of Jefferson Avenue.
