Community supports family after 9-year-old's tragic death

Zomarion Dunbar was found dead Friday night, having died by suicide according to police.

The family told us that he got into an argument with a cousin and then told his 11-year-old sister something that nobody wants to ever hear - that he wanted to die.

The family says Zomarion never talked about suicide. His family wants to share this story as a reminder that this could have been anybody's child.

"[His mother] hasn't failed her child as a parent; children have minds of their own and we never know. So that's why, as parents, we have to pay attention to our children," says Fatimah Jackson, Zomarion's aunt.

Detroit police say they are still waiting for the medical examiners to report the exact cause of death.

If you or a loved one needs help to talk about suicide you can call a 24-hour hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
