Detroit police officer injured saving suspects from burning car

Police officers saved two suspects involved in a fiery crash at Seven Mile and Mound roads Monday.

One officer received burns to his hands and forearms during the rescue.

Officers were trying to perform a traffic stop on the two men, who fled south on Mound Road at a high rate of speed, investigators say.

The suspects' car, a Chevrolet Impala, lost control and hit a tree, bursting into flames.

The two suspects, one a man in his 20s and a second in his 30s, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police have not released any information as to why the suspects would not stop.
