Police encourge crowd that witnessed Detroit man's murder to speak up

- The family of Seafred Robinson III is still heartbroken and are looking for closure after their loved one was shot and killed on the city's west side. The case which goes back to the early morning of October 16, 2016 when Robinson, 26, was found shot and killed right outside his grandmother's home.

"I saw my grandson laying with a pool of blood in his chest."

At about 1:30 a.m. that morning, several people called 911 after an argument ended with gunfire in the 16000 block of Tuller, which is right off Six Mile on Detroit's west side.

"We heard some shooting real close to our house. There was 10 gun shots and someone is out here laying on the ground," the 911 callers are heard saying.

A family member says Robinson was well known in the community.

"He grew up in that neighborhood; everybody watched him grow up," she says. FOX 2 spoke to neighbors, but they told us they don't know anything about the shooting.

"I guess this gang-banging, or whatever they want to call themselves, that's supposed to be macho," says his mother, Latonya Robinson. "It's not macho. You're taking someone's loved one."

Police say the one witness they've been talking to hasn't been able to identify the shooter, and, at this point, the description is vague.

The sergeant on the case says there may have been up to 15 people outside during the time of the shooting, and those people likely know more than they are telling.

"We are looking for the people that were actually were out there to come forward and put us in the right direction," says Sgt. Matthew Gnatek. "That's all we're asking for."

Right now, the streets are not talking Latonya can only hope that will change.

"Why would you still want this person on the street?" she asks. "It could be their family member."
