(WJBK) - Did the Cubs' win just tell us who will win the presidential election? One political analyst says yes -- and that history can prove it.
Ken Rudin, who hosts the podcast "Political Junkie", tweeted recently about an interesting trend he stumbled upon.
In the last 8 times a World Series went to a Game 7 in a prez year, when the AL team wins, WH goes GOP; when the NL team wins, Dems do too.— Ken Rudin (@kenrudin) November 3, 2016
"In the last 8 times a World Series went to a Game 7 in a prez year, when the AL team wins, WH goes GOP; when the NL team wins, Dems do too," he tweeted a few hours before the big game.
Now, we know how history played out. The Cubs won 8-7 in 10 innings of Game 7, to take home their first Series title since 1908. But, their big win may have more of an impact on history than a World Series title.
According to Rudin's theory, their win means Hillary Clinton will win the election.
Here's how Rudin breaks down the Series vs. Election history, as shown in a tweet from Wall Street Journal journalist Byron Tau:
Wonder who the presidential nominees were rooting for last night?
We'll see if the trend Rudin pointed out continues. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8. To see a sample of your ballot, visit www.vote411.org/ballot.
