Flint water documentary shown prior to debate

FLINT, Mich. (WJBK) - A documentary highlighting the Flint water crisis was shown at Woodside Church on Sunday prior to the evening's debate between Democratic presidential candidates.

The film follows the untold story of the activist role in exposing the lead in Flint's water, according to a participant featured in the documentary.

The Coalition for Clean Water banded together to conduct citizen testing and partnered with Marc Edwards of Virginia Tech, who helped discover the lead contamination.

The documentary talks about that process and kind of a history of Flint's switch from the Detroit water system to treating its own drinking water using the Flint River.

It also explains the role of Flint's emergency manager and the state's emergency manager law in the water crisis.
