Employees on Roseville recycling line find dead newborn boy

The Roseville Police Chief announced Thursday that workers at a recycling plant were stunned to find a dead newborn boy on the recycling sorting line.

Police say they were called to Great Lakes Recycling Center around 11:00 p.m. Thursday. According to employees, they were sorting different forms of recyclables when a bundle came down the sort line. Employees opened the bundle and found the dead newborn baby.

According to Chief James P. Berlin with the Roseville Police Department, the baby is a Caucasian male between one and three days old. Berlin said the boy had no visible signs of trauma and an autopsy will be conducted.

Chief Berlin said detectives are investigating and are following up on several leads. Berlin said his department is sifting through everything at the facility and hope to find clues. If they don't connect the dots, Berlin made this promise:

"We will find this person, somehow, someway."

Berlin said while there were no signs of trauma, they hope to have autopsy results shortly.

"I hope the baby wasn't allowed to freeze to death because that would make this whole thing worse," Berlin said.
