UPDATE (2/6/15): There is another search scheduled to meet at Courville Elementary School at 1 p.m. Feb. 7.It has been more than two months since anyone has seen 85-year-old Henrietta Pearson.
Her family says they have a new game plan in the search for their missing mother.
"I can't sit and twiddle my thumbs, I can't do it," said Carla Pearson. "I need my mother home."
They are working to raise funds to hire a private investigator to help search for Pearson who went missing in December
"We opened up a GoFundMe account so we can gather funds and search on our own," Carla said. "Because obviously we're not getting any help anywhere else."
They are also joining forces with community groups in hopes of starting a call for action.
"We are coordinating with minister Malik Shabazz and the Marcus Garvey Movement," said Lamarr Williams we know if we all work together we can find her."
The Marcus Garvey Movement, community activists and the family want volunteers to join them at Courville Elementary School this Saturday to form a search team in hopes of finding Pearson.
"The more people we have, the more ground we can cover," said Christopher Pearson, Henrietta's son. "We plan to go door to door, pass out fliers and hopefully produce some type of lead that will lead to the return of my mom."
Detroit Police say their investigation continues but family members say they need answers because the pain of not knowing where their mom is, is too much to bear.
"I have trouble sleeping," Christopher said. "It's terrible, it's starting to wear on the family. It affects everyone because you just don't know."
The volunteer search is Saturday, Jan. 24 at Courville Elementary, 7616 Nevada in Detroit.
Volunteers meet at 2 pm to begin search.
