Family of woman run over, killed at Ecorse steel plant speaks to Fox 2

According to her family, Heather Warren, 41, of Inkster was run over and killed by a semi tractor-trailer around 1 p.m. while she was working at the U.S. steel plant in Ecorse Saturday.

Warren had been an employee of U.S. Steel for three years and worked as a shift supervisor according to her sister, Sheryl Warren.

On Sunday Fox 2's Dave Spencer sat down with the family of Warren who are desperately searching for answers to this tragic incident.

Heather's mother, Thaeoshie Warren, says she couldn't think when her son, Carlton Warren, who also works at the plant told her that Heather had died. "He said mom, I mean she's dead," and Thaeoshie continued to wait but Heather never came home.

Ecorse Police have ruled the death a homicide and the truck driver is currently being held at Ecorse police awaiting arraignment. Police say that they will pursue homicide charges against the truck driver.

Warren's family says that both the truck company and U.S. Steel should be held responsible, too. U.S. Steel provided the following statement to Fox 2:

"On Saturday, April 18, a U. S. Steel employee was fatally injured in an incident involving ALCO Transportation at Great Lakes Works Cold Mill Shipping. We take the safety of our employees very seriously and we will work closely with the United Steelworkers and other agencies in the investigation. An investigation into the incident is underway. No further details regarding the incident are available at this time. The company expresses our deepest sympathies to the victim's family."

According to Carlton, he says that there are rules in place to prevent tragedies like this from happening, but he like the rest of his family believe those rules were not followed.

According to Ecorse police, they will be going back out to the steel plant Monday to conduct an accident recreation trying to get to the bottom of exactly led to the death of Warren.
