Farmington Hills police catch suspects who attacked woman in attempted abduction

Two suspects were arrested Thursday afternoon ending a manhunt that started after an assault and attempted abduction.

Police in Farmington Hills say the suspects attacked and nearly abducted a woman at Fairmont Park Apartments on 9 Mile near Drake at 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

The woman, 42-year-old Ingrid Ellerbe's stolen car was recovered at 11 Mile and Drake and both suspects were arrested not far from the crime scene.

Ellerbe was returning to her home  when she was approached by the two people in their 20s.

Police say that man and woman followed her inside to the vestibule area. During a struggle she was hit her over the head with an object.

Ellerbe was dragged to the street as the suspects tried to abduct her and then steal her car, but she escaped.

Andrae Ellerbe is still trying to figure out why of all people his aunt was targeted.

"We have some sick people in the world, that's the only thing I can say," Ellerbe said.

Apartment management cleaned up the blood from the area where Ellerbe was able to break free and eventually get help.

Ellerbe was rushed to the hospital where her family says she is shaken up, but is in stable condition. Police say the victim is cooperating and claims she did not recognize her attackers.

Although the suspects got away with her Cross Tour, her purse, cell phone laptops and books.

Police are puzzled by the case and don't believe it was random.

"We know this incident doesn't fit the profile of most crimes," said Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus. "Whether it be for robbery, or carjacking, it doesn't seem to fit."
