4th Legionnaires' Disease case confirmed in Flint

FLINT, Mich. (WJBK) - The outbreak of Legionnaires' Disease continues in the Flint area.

State health officials have confirmed a fourth case of the disease in Genessee County.

The latest involves a woman with chronic health issues who was recently hospitalized.

It's the third straight summer of cases reported in the area. None of the recent cases have turned fatal, but 12 deaths have been blamed on the outbreak over the past two years.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Surgeon General will be visiting Flint this week.

Vivek Murthy is expected to meet with local health providers and community leaders Tuesday afternoon to discuss the federal public health response to the water crisis.

He's also likely to talk about federal resources still available.

Officials formally ended the federal emergency, now shifting responsibility for bottled water and filter costs to the state.
