Fox 2 captures third straight win over Channel 4 in charity basketball game!

Fox 2 defeated Channel 4 with a 54-50 victory in the annual charity basketball game at Hope United Methodist Church in Southfield to raise funds for Camp Hope.

Alan Longstreet led Fox 2 with 16 points including a crucial three-point play to break a 48-48 tie with two minutes left.

Longstreet's fellow Weather Authority Derek Kevra added 10, as did Charlie LeDuff, while Lee Thomas had nine points.

The Camp Hope program offers children the opportunity to challenge their personal limits, build interpersonal skills, explore creative outlets, and enhance their self image.

Rob Wolchek (six points) was the captain of the team and credited the efforts of Local 4 and his teammates.

"We just played a team game," Wolchek said. "We have a bunch of good players, they have a bunch of good players. We played hard. We lucked out, it was close. We won and I'm happy."

Both teams were tied 15-15 after one, but a 10-2 run to open the second quarter led to a 34-29 Fox 2 advantage at halftime.

The lead was 43-37 after the third quarter, before a 11-5 run by Local 4 deadlocked it at 48-48 all.

With the win Saturday, that makes 3 victories in a row for Fox 2, whose team was made up of reporters, photographers and other staff members.
