Hamburg Twp runs circles around doughnut World Record

A Michigan city have smashed the world record for the longest chain of doughnuts lined up end-to-end.

More than 100 volunteers in Hamburg Township began laying the 24,000 doughnuts at Manley Bennett Park on merrill Road. They started with a simple goal: beat the record of 1,841 feet 10 inches

They put together a line of doughnuts that was 2.146 MILES long. That's over 11,000 feet long.

The doughnut line was put together to mark the 10th Hamburg Fun Fest which runs through this Saturday in Hamburg Township. CLICK HERE for details on the free family-friendly event.

The doughnuts will not be wasted, however they're obviously not fit for human consumption after being placed on the ground. Instead, the doughnuts will be delivered to 4H and made into pig feed.

Organizers will now begin the process of paperwork to send into Guinness to have their feat certified as a World Record.
