Justin Verlander snaps selfie, surprises young fan's day

There's a buzz in the air. It may not feel like it, but spring is here. Next week we'll be in the 50s and the week after, baseball is back. Yes, the beautiful sport that so many Detroiters love is almost here. And one of the best Tigers pitchers is helping usher in the season.

Justin Verlander appears not to be too depressed about not getting the ball for opening day. On Friday, he made a young Verlander fan's day with a simple photo.

He snapped the selfie above and posted to Instagram. It got almost 13,000 likes on Instagram in just four hours. Then the Tigers put it on their social media and the story grew like wildfire.

It wasn't all good news for Verlander on Friday. He left the Tigers spring training game against the Toronto Blue Jays with an a cramp in his right triceps. He's not expected to miss a start.
