Keeping your pets safe during extremely dangerous cold temperatures

Hallie is one of the many dogs saved from the cold hard streets of Detroit during the latest round bitter cold of bitter cold temperatures.

But what we've seen this winter, doesn't compare to what's headed our way according to Fox 2 meteorologists.

Southeast Michigan is under a windchill warning, so the dog rescue group, Detroit Dog Rescue wants you to remember your pets.

If you can obviously keep your pets in as much as possible or at least give them a shelter a couple inches off the ground with hay or blankets for added insulation.

Extra food and water are also essential when temperatures dip into the extremes.

That's because they use more energy to keep warm.. Your dogs life may depend on it.

In the past 4 years the Detroit Dog Rescue has adopted out close to 600 dogs.
