Key hearing next for carjacking suspect kicked by officer

DETROIT (AP) -- A man kicked by a police officer while being arrested for a carjacking is returning to a Detroit court to see if he'll face trial.

Andrew Jackson filed a lawsuit against police after he was seen on video being kicked and punched. But he's still in hot water for what happened before the arrest.

Jackson is accused of robbing a woman and threatening to shoot her grandchildren if they didn't get out of her vehicle on Jan. 12. Police assigned to a regional auto-theft unit arrested him in a Detroit neighborhood.

Jackson is charged with carjacking, armed robbery and other crimes. He's due in court on Tuesday.

Separately, the prosecutor's office is investigating the officers who are seen striking Jackson on the video.
