Let It Rip Weekend: Chevy Blazer criticism, and breathalyzers in cars?

The UAW is asking its members and their families to boycott General Motors' newest product.  The Chevy Blazer is being built in Mexico while five plants in North America are going idle.

Our panel debates the decision.

Plus, a local congresswoman is calling for all new cars to be equipped with breathalyzers.  It follows the tragic death of a Northville family, killed by a drunk driver in Kentucky.  But is this a reasonable request for automakers?

On the panel:
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, (D) Michigan
Paul Eisenstein, DetroitBureau.com writer and NPR correspondent
Dr. John Taylor, Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at Wayne State University
Greg Bowens, public relations consultant

GM Statement on Production of the Chevrolet Blazer:

"Several components in the Chevrolet Blazer are built in the U.S. at GM plants, supporting many UAW jobs. For example, the engines for the Blazer come from UAW-represented plants in Spring Hill, TN;  Romulus, MI and Tonawanda, NY. Those plants combine to employ 2,500 UAW-represented employees. In addition, GM purchases over $500 million in parts for the Blazer from 168 U.S. suppliers - supporting even more U.S. jobs."
