Police in Troy are investigating after $60,000 worth of Apple iPhones were stolen from a vehicle parked outside Somerset Mall.

Police say the victim reports he and his family purchased 55 iPhones to resell, and that he put the phones in his blue 2016 Toyota RAV4. Police say he then moved the car from the parking structure to outside Macy's, and went back inside. When he came back out to his car, he noticed his right rear window had been broken out and all the phones were gone.

Police say the 55 phones are worth approximately $60,000.

The latest iPhone models currently available, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max, just launched on September 21. They retail for as low as $999 or $1,099, respectively, depending on how much storage you opt for. The iPhone XS Max, the one with the bigger screen, retails for as much as $1,449 for 521 GB of storage.

The iPhone XR was recently announced but won't be available until October 26.

Police say the phones were stolen on September 21 around 11:30 a.m. If you saw anything suspicious, contact Troy Police.
