HOLLAND, Mich. (WJBK) - Authorities say one person was killed Tuesday after being trapped by a partial ceiling collapse at the Holland Civic Center.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says emergency crews responded at 3:13 p.m. to the building at 150 W. 8th Street, reports Fox 17 West Michigan.
The Holland Department of Public Safety says one person died and another person near the collapse was seriously injured. Their identities were not released, but police say both were working for a sub-contracting company involved with renovations at the Civic Center.
Officials say the ceiling collapse happened near the center's east doors.
The Civic Center was closed to the public while it undergoes renovations. It was scheduled to open in October 2018.
