Suspects wanted for abduction of man in Detroit grocery store

Police need your help to find him and track down who is responsible.

A man was abducted from a supermarket in Detroit's midtown Friday morning.

The incident happened at about 9:15 a.m. at the Food Price Supermarket, 500 E. Warren Avenue in Detroit when three suspects took the man.

The victim, a white male, about 5 feet, 4 inches with reddish hair, walked into the market when the suspects, three large black men approached him.

"They approached the subject, grabbed him and took him out the store forcibly," said Detroit police Capt. Darin Szilagy said.  "Employees at the store observed this, went outside and saw they were forcibly putting him in a brown or tan van."

The struggle lasted for a few minutes, and this is what witnesses say they heard from the suspects.

"One of the employees at the store when the perpetrators noticed what was going on, said that he 'escaped from the hospital and we're taking him back,'" Szilagy said. "We're checking our local hospitals, our drug treatment facilities, but that's unusual in an escape situation."

FOX 2 went to grocery store where the abduction happened Friday morning, but were told immediately to leave the property.

So far, Detroit police haven't received a missing person's report, meaning they don't have an identity on the victim or suspects. If you know anything, call police at (313) 596-5200.
