With weather permitting, the replacement of the Trumbull Avenue overpass above I-94 in Detroit will begin Friday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).
The new Trumbull Avenue overpass is expected to open in October.
What does that mean for you if you plan on traveling that way?
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, March 18, both directions of I-94 will be closed between I-96 and M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to allow contractors to demolish the Trumbull Avenue overpass.
Detours will be posted for each direction of I-94 using I-96, I-75 and M-10. All lanes of I-94 will open to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday, March 21.
The eastbound I-94 exit ramp to Trumbull Avenue and the Trumbull Avenue entrance ramp to westbound I-94 will remain closed for the duration of the project.
* Starting Friday, the Trumbull Avenue overpass will be closed until mid-October.
* Crews will close I-94 for Trumbull Avenue overpass demolition March 18-21.
* The weekend closure is between I-96 and M-10 (Lodge Freeway).
