Uber driver, father of 3, shot and killed Saturday, person of interest in custody

Uber driver shot and killed in Detroit Saturday
An Uber driver was shot and killed on Detroit's west side after working with the ride-sharing company for three years.

Family tell Charlie Langton that the victim, Mo-due Joun was a father and a loving husband.

He moved from Senegal to the states ten years ago and has spent the last few years driving for Uber.

That ended on Detroit's west side on Saturday.

Joun was at work early Saturday morning when he crashed his car near Joy and Livernois. Police say after Joun crashed his vehicle, he was shot multiple times and died the next day.

Paul Young is a friend of Joun's and said he was a pillar in the community and he had a big family, now left with a gaping hole. Young said that Joun traveled across the seas to come to America for a new opportunity.

Just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, police confirmed that they had a person of interest in custody but stopped short of calling this person a suspect.

Police said the only thing missing from his Joun's car was his cell phone.

Joun's brother-in-law Amady Gueye says that justice is needed.

Uber, in a statement said, that it had been in contact with local place and is offering assistance.

Joun leaves behind three children and a pregnant wife.
