DETROIT (WJBK) - A six-month old baby girl shot and killed in another senseless shooting in Detroit. Now police believe the crime is connected to another recent shooting that took the life of an innocent little girl.
Investigators have new information on the possible motive behind the drive-by shooting death of 6-month-old Miracle Murray this weekend.
The family of Miracle Murray says the baby girl's mother is inconsolable.
"She can't sleep, she can't eat," said Tia Murray, Miracle's cousin. "She went through hell with that pregnancy. I'm talking about ups and downs, she was high risk. That's one of the reason she named her miracle, because she was a miracle.
Tia Murray was at the house on Winthrop during the drive-by shooting, and says the family had been receiving death threats in the days leading up, connected to the Easter morning shooting that killed 3-year-old A'Naiya Montgomery.
She said one of the men in custody for A'Naiya's murder, is Miracle's older brother, and that this was likely an intentional act of retaliation.
"They were aiming right here as if they meant to hit the baby," Murray said.
Detroit Police say they are still investigating this disturbing crime, while the Crime Stoppers response team canvasses the neighborhood.
The team has been tirelessly going door to door hoping to generate tips.
"This scum needs to be behind bars," said Hassan Williams of Crime Stoppers. "You took a child's life, and we're going to be out here until we get this guy."
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP, you will remain anonymous.
Meanwhile, the house where Miracle was killed is now empty and the family, scared for their safety.
"I would appreciate if they get the people who shot Miracle to give her mother some closure and some justice.
