It doesn't take long to realize the impact Charles Reed had on his wife and children.

"We always had fun when he was here, it's not going to be like it was," said Greg Reed, his 9-year-old son. “Because he's gone."

"My dad was the nicest person and he always taught me a lot of stuff," said 12-year-old Charles Reed III. "And we used to play basketball and football all the time."

As a father, he wanted his kids to grow up the right way.

"He wanted us to graduate and stuff, and be a good man," Charles said.

His family is well aware of how hard it will be now that he's gone. On April 29th he was the passenger in this SUV when the driver, his friend got on I-75 going the wrong way.

At the time of the crash it was suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Investigators are still awaiting toxicology results.

"He didn't just take his life," said Alexis Matcotte, his daughter. "He ruined all of ours. It's just not going to be the same anymore."

Reed was killed in the crash, the driver and another passenger survived.

A fact the family is having a hard time coming to terms with.  Reed owned a lawn care business as was the sole provider for the family. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help this family deal with so much all at once.

"Being their mother, I want to take this pain away from them," said Rachel Matcotte. "I want to make it better for them and I can't."
