14-year-old dies after being pulled from Huron River in Scio Township

A deadly drowning in Scio Township Thursday.

Two teens were pulled from the water late this afternoon with a 14-year-old later dying, according to Derrick Jackson of the Washtenaw Sheriff's Office.

The teen has been identified as  Abdulrahman Labak.

At the time of the rescue, the 14-year-old had been listed in critical condition with the second teen in stable condition. Medical first responders and police arrived at the scene near Zeeb and Peters roads at about 4:30 p.m.

FOX 2 is told the 14 year old was swimming and canoeing in the Huron River this afternoon. 

At some point he and another teen went under the water. SkyFOX was over the scene as emergency responders attempted CPR, taking them to Mott Children's Hospital, that's where the 14-year-old was later pronounced dead. 
The other teen is in stable condition. The victim's name has not been released by police.
