Police: man on video carrying AK-47 used in murder

- Detroit Police catch a man carrying an AK-47 in broad daylight that they say was used in a murder just minutes before he was caught on camera.

The new surveillance surveillance video was released by Detroit Police on Friday that shows the accused gunman jumping out of a moving car. From there, he walks into a marijuana dispensary at State Fair and Russell with the AK-47 in his left hand. Once inside, he hands it to another man who hides it.

According to police, the weapon was used in two separate shootings. In one, a 21-year-old man was killed. In the other, a 27-year-old man was injured. Both happened on May 6th and just 40 minutes apart.

Police say they believe robbery is the motive but don't know the man's identity.

"We know that someone may recognize him so we are asking for the public's help," Police Chief James Craig said.

Police say the trigger man is known as "White Boy". He's black, 20-25 years old, 5'10" to 6' tall and weighs 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing town jean shorts and vest, a dark gray or black shirt that has red sleeves.

"It helps that the public gives us this information in these kinds of situations. Particularly when we put out a video or phone image, our phones start ringing. We're optimistic. Help us find this third suspect. Who is caring a high power weapon, caused fear in the community, we can bring some closure to the family," James said.

Police are looking for the guy wearing a baseball cap, the same guy who hid the suspected murder weapon.
