Hazel Park tackles blight, looks to revitalization

HP Blight Busters
When you think of down towns, Hazel Park might not come to mind, yet.
Ed Klobucher, City Manager for Hazel Park says Hazel Park is a growing city, a city that is on the verge of really turning the corner. The city has been redeveloping its image for years now.
Redevelopment means Hazel Park is cracking down. A task force was established by the city in response to citizens request to get rid of the bad, to spruce up the city and to create a downtown.
Sareen Papakhian, Director of Recreation for Hazel Park says Hazel Park is a resilient city with a great future to look forward to.
But to get to the future, sometimes you have to delete the past and Hazel Park is wasting no time. In fact, the city has already torn down a half dozen eye sores and they're not fooling around about having businesses clean up their act.
City officials say in the past, they have even pursued criminal charges against businesses for not cleaning up their acts.
