15-year-old playwright tackles suicide, bullying and more

Andreana Beard not only wrote a play but also directed it and played a main role. The 15-year old using her skills to tackle some serious topics. 

Beard’s play “Listen” premiered Saturday night in Livonia, her second original work where she tackled topics like bullying, sexual abuse and even suicide. 

She hopes to take the play on the road to reach other young people and their parents. She let Fox 2 know that she likes being the boss, especially directing adults.

 “I think everything that we talked about during rehearsal, they are using it today on the stage to give everyone a good show, and to give everyone their money’s worth,” Beard said.  

Beard wrote her first play “Christmas Love” at only 9-years-old, which still runs at the Charles H Wright Museum of African American History during the holidays.
