DETROIT (WJBK) - A 17-year-old Detroit girl was raped by a man police say she invited into her home.
The search continues for the attacker with more on who police are looking for.
Detroit police are still gathering information from a 17-year-old girl who says she was raped inside her home on evergreen near McNichols Thursday night.
"It's a very rough situation that she just encountered," said Michael Woody, Detroit police media relations. "She is very shaken up.
Police say the man came to the house at about 9 p.m. and the girl let him in.
"They were inside having conversations, at which point, somewhere during that time, he sexually assaulted her," Woody said.
Police say this man was somehow known to this girl's family. And that she let him in the home because she trusted him.
After the assault, police say she was able to get away and call 911. Neighbors are disturbed.
Detroit police can only describe the suspect as a black male at this time. They're working with the victim to gather more information and possibly draw a sketch.
"She is cooperating as much as she can," Woody said. "We are hoping to glean any information we can from her and of course the community,"
