Detroit rapper Dex Osama ID'd as strip club murder victim

A Detroit-based rapper is the man who was shot and killed at a strip club early Monday morning.

He wrote rhymes about having a target on his back and now the local rapper is dead, gunned down outside a Detroit strip club.

Word of Dex Osama's murder spread quickly on social media and his killer is still at large.

Some say Osama was on his  way to making it big.

"He had his own star he was in his own lane," said friend Erik Thomas. "He didn't copy anybody he was unique. Alot of people thought he sounded like Biggie (Smalls). He was different, he was unique."

Little E knew Osama better than most.  As a videographer for LED Productions he shot close to a dozen of his music videos.

"He would say 'E I got something for you,'" Thomas said.  "The next thing you knew Nicki Minaj was listening to his work, it was quite the accomplishment."

His music also got the attention of artist Meek Mill who posted a picture of the pair on Instagram, saying how much he believed in him and what he was doing for Detroit.

Osama died early Monday morning after being shot twice outside the Crazy Horse Strip Club.

Bystander Jamal Sareini stopped to help and shared what was likley one of Osama's last conversations.

"'Please, help me, am I going to die,' I said you are alright. breathe take deep breaths,'" Sareini said. "I got the bleeding stopped."

It appears some sort of argument inside the club that ended up out  on the street which sparked the deadly confrontation. Another man was also shot in the elbow, but is expected to be okay.

No one is in custody yet for taking the life of a man with so much more music to give.

"He was there all it took was a couple more phone calls and he was there," said Thomas.

Thomas said he and Osama had several things they were working on that had never been made public. He is now working with his family to try and figure out a respectful way to release their work so this is likely not the last you have heard of Dex Osama.

Dex Osama was recently signed by rapper Meek Mill, who posted a photo and update to Instagram Monday morning saying goodbye to the rapper.

Police were called the strip club on Lonyo and Michigan early Monday morning. According to officers on scene, two people were shot, one of whom died from his injuries. The other shooting victim later showed up at a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police say they have identified the victim and are working to notify family at this time.

A witness to the shooting told FOX 2's Maurielle Lue that he was inside when the gunfire erupted and he was with the victim for about 20 minutes or so until police drove the victim to the hospital. He said the man had two gunshot wounds and he applied pressure to both of them in an attempt to keep him alive. He said the victim told him he was cold and "please don't let me die."

Detectives spent the morning hours investigating the shooting and talking with witnesses and possible people of interest.
