Judge drops charges for dad of 11-year-old in shooting death of boy

- A Wayne County Circuit Court judge  dropped three of four charges against the father of an 11-year-old boy involved in a fatal shooting.

Judge Ronald Giles dismissed charges for Curry Bryson of involuntary manslaughter, child abuse and felony firearm. One charge of altering the ID number remains. His arraignment will be coming later this month.

His son allegedly shot and killed 3-year-old Elijah Walker of Taylor outside a house in the 16000 block of Eastwood Street in Detroit on Aug. 3.

Prosecutors allege that the 11-year-old was visiting his father's house when he found an unsecured gun in a bedroom closet and threw it out a window into the backyard. They say he then grabbed the gun and got into a car parked in the backyard.

The boy's cousin, Walker,  got in the car soon after, and was fatally shot in the face.

The 11-year-old is still facing a manslaughter charge as a juvenile.
