A man accused of raping a young woman after pretending to want to give her a ride faced a Detroit judge Thursday.
35-year-old Jovon Boykins was arraigned on 2 counts of criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping.
Boykins is accused of posing as a good samaritan July 10th, offering to help an 18-year-old woman after a fight with her boyfriend near Plymouth and Hubbell on Detroit's west side.
Police say Boykins said he would give the woman a ride home but Instead brought her to a vacant home and sexually assaulted her.
Then justice would come as alert citizens recognized Boykins from photos and sketches released by police inside a gas station and alerted police.
Neighbors then followed him to a home on Marlowe where he was arrested by police.
Boykins was heard in court several times interrupting the judge while acting casual and unbothered.
The judge entered a not guilty plea on Boykins' behalf giving him a $250,000 cash bond.
Boykins will be back in court in early August for a probable cause hearing. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
