DETROIT (WJBK) - A Detroit woman says when the skies opened up Tuesday morning, so did her roof. This is despite her pleas to her landlord for the last few months to do something about the ceiling. After this watery mess, she called on the FOX 2 Problem Solvers.
When it rains, it pours. And, lately, every time it rains outside, it rains inside Meaka Mobley's rented home on Detroit's East side. During Tuesday's strong storms, she captured it on video.
She told FOX 2 that it's been going on for months.
"(He says) he'll get somebody to fix it. No one (has ever been here)" Mobley said.
But it didn't stop at the leaky ceiling. Her basement also flooded and damaged several items she bought for her students for the start of school.
"I had to send my children away. I'm on a fixed income, I bought the things they needed for school, it got damaged"
FOX 2 tried calling the landlorld's phone but it went straight to voicemail and it's full. Mobley and FOX 2 were able to track down one of the landlord's employees.
He told us that he and the rest of the staff are on vacation until Wednesday. They assured us that someone would come out and fix the problem.
That only makes Mobley more fed up and frustrated.
"You work with me, I work with you. But at this piont, this is ridiculous. Come on now, we're better than that," she said.
