SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - Police in Southfield are searching for a suspect after they say a man was robbed, pistolwhipped and shot in the back while walking.
The victim told police he was walking down the sidewalk near the area of Eight Mile and Berg roads around 5 a.m. Thursday morning when he was approached by a man with a gun.
The suspect demanded his money and then hit him with the pistol. Then, he forced the victim to lie on the ground and shot him one time in the back.
The suspect drove off in a red or burgundy pickup truck and went west on Eight Mile Road. The victim was able to walk to a nearby gas station and call 911. He's been taken to a hospital, but his condition was not given by police.
The suspect is described as a black man about 6 feet tall and in his early 40s, with a medium build and a short beard. He was wearing a gray and black jumpsuit with a hoodie, black shoes and black gloves.
