2 girls seriously injured in crash, police believe mom was intoxicated

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WJBK) - Two girls were seriously injured in a car accident Sunday night in Highland Park. Police believe their mother was driving while intoxicated.

Police say the woman was driving the wrong way on Hamilton Avenue when she hit another car head on near Grove Street, which is near W McNichols Road.

Police say her 6- and 7-year-old daughters were not wearing seatbelts and suffered serious injuries in the crash.

They were rushed to Children's Hospital. Their exact condition is not known at this time.

Their mother is in police custody. No word yet on what charges she may face.
