2 killed at bonfire when gunman sprayed nearly 30 bullets

- Detroit police are investigating a double fatal shooting at a bonfire early Friday morning.

A man and a woman in their mid 20s were both killed when a gunman fired as many as 30 shots at the people at the bonfire. Police don't have much information to go on right now.

We're told a group of about 7-8 people were having a bonfire in the 7400 block of Central Avenue, which is near Warren and Livernois avenues, when someone just walked up to them and started shooting.

Two people were struck around 12:15 a.m., and we're told the other people at the bonfire had to duck behind parked cars to stay safe.

Friends identified one of the victims to FOX 2 as 25-year-old Andrea Gardner, and say she was shot in the head. Another 25-year-old victim was shot in the chest and passed away at the hospital.

Police don't have a description of the shooter to give right now, and aren't sure why the shooter opened fire.

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 2 for updates.
