Detroit police are investigating a shootout between men in two vehicles over the placement of a trash can Tuesday.

A 48-year-old man was shot multiple times and a 26-year-old man shot in the shoulder after what DPD is calling a "rolling shootout" between occupants of a Dodge Charger and Ram pickup truck at 6:30 p.m..

Both vehicles were driving while a hail of gunfire was exchanged in the area of Kentucky and Buena Vista on the west side.

At least 34 shell casing evidence markers were at the scene in the street. The altercation is said to have started over the placement of a trash can along the side of a house.

The 26-year-old victim was being transported to a nearby hospital in a Charger - they stopped when they saw a police car and police transported the rest of the way.
