2 schools locked down after man escapes traffic stop in Auburn Hills

Two schools were temporarily locked down in Oakland County, police say, while authorities searched for a person who escaped a traffic stop.

The schools locked down were Oakland Christian School and Rogers Elementary School, both near E Walton Boulevard and N Squirrel Road.

Auburn Hills Police say border patrol agent stopped a vehicle on Dexter Road around 8:30 a.m. for a potential immigration violation. Two men were able to get away from the agent.

Police say one of the men has been caught and is in custody, but authorities are still looking for the other man.

The schools were temporarily locked down, but police assure no one was ever in danger. Classes continued but the outer doors have been locked. Police say the man is not believed to be armed.

The lock downs were lifted after about an hour.
