2 shot, 1 killed in suspected robbery attempt on east side

Two people were shot, one fatally on Detroit's east side late Nov. 12 in a robbery that did not go as planned.

Police believe a robbery victim took a gun from one of the suspects and shot them both. A 16-year-old girl was taken for questioning for having some role in the incident. She walked out of the police station Wednesday but was recovered safe this morning.

"There were two individuals and the intent was to do a robbery. Subsequently those two people were shot during this incident," said Cmdr. Elaine Bryant, Detroit police. "We don't think don't think she was a shooter. We think she had something to do with this incident and that's why she was being detained.

"We think she had something to do with setting up this whole particular incident."

Police said the gun went from the hands of the suspect to the victim in some sort of struggle. One of the suspects died from their wounds while the other remains hospitalized.

Police say the teen was interviewed and released. Investigators are reviewing all the evidence, saying anyone who was involved in planning the robbery could be charged.
